Ecommerce Marketing Calendar With Holiday Ad Deadlines
An ecommerce marketing calendar for the holidays usually starts with the dates everyone knows, like Black Friday and Christmas. The dates that decide whether those sales pay off come earlier, and they are much easier to miss.
Ads launched in the week of a sale are still settling when shoppers arrive, and late gift orders miss the carriers' cutoffs. From mid-November to mid-February, those early deadlines stack up behind Black Friday, Hanukkah, Christmas, Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day.
Which moments belong on your plan, then, and when does each piece of it have to be ready?
What Is an Ecommerce Marketing Calendar?
An ecommerce marketing calendar is a schedule that helps you plan promotions, advertising campaigns and important sales events throughout the year. Instead of simply marking holidays like Black Friday or Christmas, it shows what you need to prepare, when to launch your ads and how long each promotion should run.
For each campaign, you should set three key deadlines:
- Creative ready: when your ad images and copy must be finished.
- Ads live: when the campaign starts running.
- Last order date: the final day customers can order gifts for delivery before a holiday.
A holiday marketing calendar for social media lists national days and awareness months. Your sales calendar can be shorter, since it keeps only the days your customers buy for. Our free Ecommerce Sales Calendar skill builds that list for your store in about 5 minutes, using the rules below.
How to Choose the Moments Worth a Sale
A store that discounts on all the shopping holidays teaches its customers to wait for the next one. So the skill keeps a moment only when at least one of these is true:
- Your customers really buy for it, as jewelry shoppers do for Valentine's Day.
- It is a peak day every shopper expects, like Black Friday, or Boxing Day in the UK, Canada and Australia.
- It ties to something your store owns, like a launch, a restock or a birthday.
Keep Discounts to Two Events a Month
Discount events are capped at 2 a month, because constant sales train customers to wait. Quiet weeks get a moment without a markdown instead, from the free rungs of the offer ladder below. In the skill's own sample plan, Black Friday gets 20% off, Cyber Monday a free gift and Christmas a gift bundle.
Ecommerce Holiday Calendar for November 2026 to February 2027
Every date below uses the skill's defaults of 2 business days to pack, 5 to ship and 2 as a buffer. Creative is due a week before launch, and ads go live at least a week before each moment or gift cutoff.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deadlines
Thanksgiving is November 26 on OPM's federal holiday schedule, which makes Black Friday November 27 and Cyber Monday November 30. Ads for a one-day sale run as a teaser or early access first, then switch to the sale on the day.
New ad sets also need to clear Meta's learning phase, so our Black Friday plan for Meta and Google launches them by November 13. Small Business Saturday and Giving Tuesday suit a founder story or a cause better than a discount.
Hanukkah and Christmas Gift Deadlines
Hanukkah begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, and ends at nightfall on December 12. With default times, first-night gifts must be ordered by November 20, a week before Black Friday. Gifts for the eighth night, December 11, can wait until Cyber Monday.
Christmas falls on a Friday, so counting 9 business days back from December 25 lands on Monday, December 14. December 14 is also Green Monday, a name eBay gave the second Monday of December after a big 2007 sales day. Once your cutoff passes, switch the ads to gift cards or arrives-after-Christmas messaging.
New Year, Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day 2027
After Christmas, the mood turns to fresh starts, so New Year's Day on January 1 suits a new drop. Lunar New Year falls on Saturday, February 6, 2027, which puts its last order date at January 26.
Valentine's Day shares Sunday, February 14, with Super Bowl LXI, so pick one main message per audience. December buyers are a warm audience, and our guide to Facebook retargeting ads shows how to reach them.
Holiday Shipping Deadlines for Christmas 2026
Your last order date has to sit inside the carriers' cutoffs, with room to spare. These 2026 dates come from the USPS holiday shipping page, the UPS holiday schedule and FedEx's last days to ship.
| Carrier | Service | Last Day to Ship (Lower 48) | Arrives By |
|---|---|---|---|
| USPS | Ground Advantage | Thu, Dec 17 | Before Dec 25 |
| USPS | Priority Mail | Fri, Dec 18 | Before Dec 25 |
| USPS | Priority Mail Express | Sat, Dec 19 | Before Dec 25 |
| UPS | 3 Day Select | Mon, Dec 21 | Dec 24 |
| UPS | 2nd Day Air | Tue, Dec 22 | Dec 24 |
| UPS | Next Day Air | Wed, Dec 23 | Dec 24 |
| FedEx | Ground Economy | Tue, Dec 15 | Dec 24 |
| FedEx | Ground, Home Delivery | Dec 17 to 23, by transit days | Dec 24 |
| FedEx | Express Saver | Mon, Dec 21 | Dec 24 |
| FedEx | 2Day | Tue, Dec 22 | Dec 24 |
| FedEx | Standard Overnight | Wed, Dec 23 | Dec 24 |
USPS calls these recommended send-by dates, and UPS gives no single Ground date because transit depends on the route. Both UPS and FedEx close on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, so those days never count.
How to Count Your Last Order Date
To set your last order date for holiday delivery, start with the holiday and work backward. Add the time you need to pack an order, the longest estimated shipping time and an extra 2 business days in case of delays. Skip weekends and public holidays when calculating the deadline.
For example, if packing takes 1 business day and delivery takes 2 to 5 business days, you need 8 business days in total (1 + 5 + 2).
For Christmas on Friday, December 25, 2026, your last order date would be Tuesday, December 15. An order placed that day could ship on December 16, giving it extra time to arrive before Christmas.
Holiday Marketing Ideas That Protect Your Margin
Most Christmas marketing ideas come down to two choices: what you offer and when the offer ends. Offers that cost you nothing top the skill's offer ladder: a new drop, a gift guide or early access for subscribers. Free shipping over a threshold above your average order, a gift with purchase and a bundle come next.
A sitewide percent off sits at the bottom, saved for the biggest event, which for most stores is Black Friday through Cyber Monday. Run one offer per sale, worded the same way in ads, emails and banners.
Watch Out: An offer left in an ad after the sale ends sends shoppers to a price that no longer exists. Take it off ads, site banners and Google ad text the same day.
Before any percent-off sale, subtract the discount from your gross margin. A 50% margin with 30% off leaves 20% of the full price, so ad cost per order has to fit inside it. Our break-even ROAS calculator turns that margin into the return each sale needs.
How to Run Ads Around Each Holiday Deadline
New ads need 7 days without edits before you judge them, the same read we use in Facebook creative testing. Launching a week early gives them that time before the peak. That is also why, when a sitewide sale starts or ends, you edit only the ads and banners that mention the offer.
A higher CPM on Black Friday does not mean an ad has stopped working. The skill's ad rules expect costs to rise for everyone that week, so keep a working ad running and judge it afterward.
How to Build Your Own Ecommerce Calendar Every Quarter
You do not need a year-long retail promotional calendar, since a rolling 90-day plan catches each deadline in time. Each quarter, five steps rebuild it:
- Start from today and look 90 days ahead, plus 30 more for early prep.
- List the marketing holidays fixed by rule, and confirm moon-based ones like Lunar New Year.
- Keep the moments your customers buy for, with at most 2 discounts a month.
- Give each moment an offer, a hook and an ad idea for feed and 9:16 Stories.
- Write real dates for creative, launch, last orders and clean-up into a weekly prep plan.
The skill runs these steps in Claude or ChatGPT from 8 quick questions or your store URL. It never logs in to your accounts, never changes anything and sends nothing to Agency AI.
How Agency AI Plans and Launches Holiday Ads
Agency AI, our Shopify app for Meta and Google ads, can turn this calendar into live ads. Its AI Strategist plans your calendar from your own store data, then creates and launches the ads for each moment on your approval.
It pulls products straight from your Shopify catalog, so the creative shows your real products rather than an AI redraw. Creative deadlines get easier too, since Create Ad builds a full Meta ad in about 2 to 3 minutes.
Nothing launches or changes until you approve it, which matches how we suggest you automate Facebook ads for a Shopify store. Through our MCP connector, Claude or ChatGPT can read your live Meta, Google and Shopify data and run writes once you confirm.
Final Thoughts
A strong ecommerce marketing calendar is mostly a list of earlier dates. Pick the moments your customers buy for and give each one a creative, launch and order cutoff. Then the next 90 days stop arriving as surprises.
