How Lolahemp Cut Meta Cost Per Acquisition From $143 to $62.70

Lolahemp case study: Meta CPA cut from $143 to $62.70

Lolahemp is a Shopify store selling vet-formulated CBD for dogs and cats. On its own site the company describes itself as "a small business with a small staff." By its own account it had run Meta ads both in-house and through outside agencies before trying Agency AI. Two Meta Ads Manager screenshots from the account, one from before and one from after, are the evidence behind the numbers below.

The Problem: A Paused Account and a $143 Cost Per Purchase

Between August 1 and September 30, 2025, a 61 day window, the campaigns visible in the account looked like this. Every one of them was switched off at the moment the screenshot was taken.

Those rows come to 33 purchases at a weighted average of $143.75. The screenshot is cropped, so the account may hold further rows below the visible ones. The company's own stated before figure is $143, which the visible rows corroborate almost exactly.

Two things the evidence does not tell us: how long the campaigns had been off, and why. Nothing in the source explains either, so this article will not guess. What the company has said on the record is narrower and more useful, that neither the internal effort nor the agencies it had worked with was getting it where it needed to be on cost per acquisition.

What Changed

Agency AI is a Shopify app that runs Meta and Google as one coordinated funnel. It builds a brand profile from the storefront, including tone, target customer, value propositions, and a break-even ROAS the merchant sets, then generates recommendations on a trailing seven day window. Each recommendation shows the proposed change, the numbers behind it, spend, ROAS, CPA, CTR and conversions, and plain-English reasoning measured against that break-even figure.

One point matters more than any other for a store owner reading this. On Meta, nothing is applied automatically. Agency AI does not push optimization changes into a Meta account on the merchant's behalf. Meta recommendation cards carry no apply button at all, they can only be reviewed or dismissed. Where the platform does propose a Meta change in its AI Strategist chat, that proposal sits as pending until a person clicks Approve, and editing an ad ends at an explicit publish step. A campaign only goes live on Meta after a human at the store says so.

The after screenshot shows two live campaigns, both carrying the "Agency AI //" naming prefix the platform uses to bring campaigns into its tracking: one top of funnel test and one retargeting test.

The company's stated headline is a move from $143 to $62.70. By our arithmetic that is a 56 percent reduction. The visible rows in the two screenshots produce a slightly different figure, 55.8 percent, because each screenshot is a partial view of the account rather than a full export, so the two will not tie exactly.

The per-campaign detail holds up underneath the headline. Retargeting came in at $56.12 per purchase and the top of funnel test at $64.96, both well under the cheapest before-period campaign at $105.22. Volume moved in the same direction, with 95 recorded purchases in 28 days against 33 across the prior 61.

Be clear-eyed about what this comparison is. The windows are not the same length, and neither screenshot is a full account export. It is one store's reported performance across two specific 2025 date ranges, not a controlled test.

What the Lolahemp Team Said

"Agency AI has outperformed both our internal ad efforts and every agency we've ever worked with. Our cost per acquisition on meta is down over 25%, and the best part is how hands-off it's been. We'll be using the platform across all of our paid channels and recommending it to other store owners in our network."

The quote is conservative. The account screenshots supplied alongside it show a reduction larger than the floor the company cited.

Why This Matters for Shopify Store Owners

Plenty of ecommerce brands conclude that Meta has simply stopped working for them. A common shape across stalled accounts is several overlapping campaigns, thin purchase counts spread across them, and a blended cost per acquisition that nobody has the hours to pull apart week after week. That is usually a structure and attention problem before it is a platform problem.

What a rules engine contributes is the attention. It reads the account on a rolling weekly basis, checks performance against the break-even ROAS you have defined rather than a generic benchmark, and hands you a decision with the evidence attached. You still make the call on Meta, every time. That is the design, and for merchants spending their own money it is the right way round.

If your Meta cost per acquisition has been climbing and nobody on your team has time to audit it properly, the Lolahemp numbers are worth a look with the dates and window lengths in view.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much did Lolahemp reduce its Meta cost per acquisition?
From $143 to $62.70 per purchase, which is a reduction of about 56 percent. The before figure covers August 1 to September 30, 2025 and the after figure covers October 10 to November 6, 2025, so the two windows are 61 and 28 days respectively.
Does Agency AI change Meta campaigns automatically?
No. Meta recommendation cards can only be reviewed or dismissed, they carry no apply button. A Meta change proposed in the AI Strategist chat stays pending until someone clicks Approve, and ad edits finish at an explicit publish step. On Google the platform does apply a recommendation when you click Apply.
How long did the Lolahemp results take to appear?
The after screenshot covers a 28 day window, October 10 to November 6, 2025, with 95 purchases recorded across two campaigns. The evidence does not show what happened in the weeks between the two windows, so treat 28 days as the length of the measured period rather than a promised timeline.
What does Agency AI cost?
It is $59 per month or $492 per year on the Shopify App Store, with a 30 day free trial. Ad spend is billed separately by Meta and Google.
